Rowing on the Snohomish River

Rowing on the Snohomish River by Cheri O'Brien

Fused Painted Glass, 2011

Cheri O'Brien is a Pacific Northwest native, an artist since the age of five. She is inspired by finding humor in beauty and the beauty of humor. At first glance, her colorful, narrative paintings seem to be whimsical reflections of her surroundings, family and several muses. A closer look reveals the layers of meaning, sometimes a pernicious sense of humor exposed.

"This painting is inspired from the view of the Snohomish river I see from my house and my husband, Rob, who regularly rows on it. He has been rowing for 24 years now, never had lessons before then, took to it like he had been rowing all his life."
